Key facts

GPT Engineer and the founding of the business

Anton Osika released GPT Engineer, an open-source tool for generating code from natural-language instructions, then founded Lovable with Fabian Hedin, a former colleague at Depict. The open-source project used a command-line interface; the later commercial product moved the building process into a browser for users without programming experience. The projects share a development history, but the open-source repository and paid platform are distinct products.[1][2][3]

€6.8 million pre-seed financing announced

EU-Startups reported that Lovable raised €6.8 million in pre-seed funding led by Hummingbird and byFounders, with entrepreneurs and AI-industry angel investors also participating. The commercial beta product was still called GPT Engineer and already had paying users. The funding was intended for hiring, computing resources, data collection and improvements.[4]

launch under the Lovable brand

The team initially invited people on its waiting list to try GPT Engineer app, gathered feedback and refined the product before launching it as Lovable in November 2024. Osika explained in an interview that the name reflected his desire to make products users loved. The company published a first-anniversary retrospective on November 18, 2025.[3][5]

$15 million financing

Lovable 2.0

Version 2.0 introduced workspaces, multi-user collaboration and a Chat Mode Agent able to search files, inspect logs and query databases. Chat Mode was intended for questions, planning and debugging and did not itself modify code. Code editing, visual styling changes and pre-publication security scans after connecting Supabase were separate features. The release brought collaboration and development checks into one workflow.[7]

gradual Agent Mode beta rollout

Lovable began rolling out an Agent Mode beta that could understand tasks, explore a codebase, modify files and address errors. Announced capabilities included reading files as needed, examining logs and network activity, searching the web, and generating or editing images. Credits were charged according to task usage, with complex requests potentially consuming multiple credits.[8]

$200 million Series A

Lovable announced a $200 million Series A at a $1.8 billion valuation. Accel led the round, joined by 20VC, byFounders, Creandum, Hummingbird, Visionaries Club and angel investors. The funding amount represented capital raised; $1.8 billion was the valuation disclosed for the transaction.[9]

Agent becomes the default and ARR exceeds $100 million

The company announced that ARR had surpassed $100 million, with more than 10 million projects created and roughly 100,000 new projects per day. Lovable Agent became the default for new users, supporting changes across files, external tools and automated resolution of build problems. ARR annualizes recurring revenue and is not equivalent to revenue already recognized for a full year.[10]

Proofpoint reports platform abuse

Security company Proofpoint reported that attackers were using Lovable to generate and host phishing, scam and malware-distribution pages impersonating well-known brands. It said its email data had identified tens of thousands of threatening Lovable URLs per month since February. Proofpoint reported that a phishing cluster involving hundreds of domains was removed in the same week it notified Lovable. Lovable said it had introduced real-time malicious-prompt detection and daily project scans in July. The report concerned attackers’ abuse of a website-building service.[11]

Lovable Cloud and built-in AI

Lovable introduced Cloud and AI features covering databases, authentication, file storage and backend services. Users could describe requirements in the building interface, configure an application backend and add AI functions without supplying their own model API keys. These usage-billed services extended the product from interface and code generation to the infrastructure needed to run applications.[12]

first-anniversary figures and US office plans

The company reported $200 million in ARR and about 100,000 new projects per day. It introduced MCP-server connections for using information from tools including Linear, Jira, Confluence, n8n and Notion to build prototypes. It also announced plans for offices in Boston and San Francisco while retaining Stockholm as its core base. The offices were expansion plans at the time of the announcement.[5]

Molnett acquisition announced

Lovable announced its acquisition of cloud-services provider Molnett, bringing its infrastructure-engineering expertise into the team to support Lovable Cloud. Molnett co-founder Mikael Knutsson and colleagues joined Lovable. The acquisition price was not disclosed.[13]

$330 million Series B

response to a public-project access incident

Lovable disclosed that a backend regression from February 3 to April 20, 2026 could allow signed-in users with a project link to access public projects’ chat histories and source code. It said the issue was fixed within two hours of a public report on April 20 and that private projects and Lovable Cloud were unaffected. It acknowledged that valid reports received from February 22 had been wrongly closed because of outdated internal documentation. It announced changes to escalation procedures, triage training and historical public-project permissions, while continuing to investigate actual access.[15]

iOS and Android clients

Lovable released iOS and Android clients for issuing build instructions by text or voice, queuing tasks, receiving completion notifications and continuing the same project across mobile and desktop. The announcement concerned building web applications through mobile clients; it did not mean every generated project automatically became a native iOS or Android application.[16]

Cerebras inference-infrastructure partnership

Lovable and Cerebras announced a partnership to move latency-sensitive workloads gradually to dedicated inference capacity, aiming to substantially reduce build-response delays around 2027. Osika linked faster feedback to users’ need to experiment and refine products. The announcement described infrastructure plans rather than demonstrating that the 2027 performance goals had already been achieved.[17]

$400 million Series C

Lovable announced a $400 million Series C at a $13.3 billion valuation, led by Menlo Ventures and co-led by the EQT-managed Scaleup Europe Fund, with Tencent among the participants. It said users had created over 60 million projects since the November 2024 launch, and that Lovable-built applications received around 900 million monthly visits. It also planned to expand teams in London, Boston, San Francisco and New York beyond Stockholm. The traffic metric referred to applications built on the platform, not Lovable’s own registered users.[18]

Fable 5.1 adoption begins

Lovable announced that it was starting to use Fable 5.1 for building tasks, particularly continued modification of existing applications and complex code. Its internal comparisons showed improvements in performance and cost for some iterative-development tasks, alongside slightly lower scores on certain tests of building new applications from scratch. Results varied by task and did not support a claim of universal improvement.[19]

invoking Lovable from Slack

Lovable announced that users could mention its app in Slack threads or direct messages to build new applications, publish changes or ask questions about projects and data. The integration brought requirements from existing workplace conversations directly into the application-building process.[20]

building from Linear

Lovable’s official account announced that users could invoke Lovable from Linear to turn issue specifications into hosted applications. The announcement expanded the channels through which Lovable could receive building tasks from everyday work tools.[21]

collaborative drafts

Lovable introduced Drafts so collaborators could explore interface, copy and visual alternatives within a project, then accept and publish a chosen draft. The initial release focused on frontend changes; database-structure and login changes remained in the main project chat. Drafts used the published application’s database, so they were not test environments fully isolated from production data.[22]

Partner Program

Lovable launched a Partner Program with an Expert track for independent builders and small agencies, and a Solution Partner track for larger engagements. Certification draws on delivered projects, while a directory showcases work and connects partners with customers. Eligible partners can also earn referral commissions. The program formalizes services for building software on the platform.[23]

Salesforce and Slack integrations

Lovable announced connections to Salesforce data and permissions through Headless 360, including publication of read-only applications such as dashboards inside Salesforce. Applications that write data back run on Lovable through the connector. The partnership also covers building from Slack, collaborating in code channels and installing generated agents as Slack bots. The announcement distinguishes the read/write capabilities of these deployment paths.[24]

Sutro acquisition

Lovable announced its acquisition of Sutro, bringing expertise in languages, compilers and backend platforms to improve understanding of application behavior, security and reliability. Founder Tomas Halgas and three engineers joined, with Halgas leading technical evangelism. The price was not disclosed.[25]

Opus 5.5 integration

Lovable announced Opus 5.5 availability. In internal evaluations at matched reasoning-effort levels, it reported scores comparable to Opus 5 for initial builds and iterative edits, with fewer steps and tokens and higher verification-discipline scores. These results came from Lovable’s own benchmark suite and do not establish identical speed gains for every user task.[26]

free chat allowance

Lovable expanded chat for pre-build discussion, project analysis and work documents, with access to connected-tool information, code inspection and Lovable Cloud database queries. Free, Pro and Business workspaces received a daily free chat allowance; image and video generation and handoffs to Plan or Build continued to consume credits. The announcement specified that the chat-pricing and allowance terms applied through October 31, 2026.[27]

Microsoft enterprise integration

Lovable announced a MicrosoftMicrosoftMicrosoft is a technology company founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen in 1975 and headquartered in Redmond, Washington, with businesses spanning Windows, Microsoft 365, Azure, enterprise software, artificial intelligence, gaming and devices.Open the full entry partnership using Copilot Managed Runtime to deploy built applications into a company’s Microsoft tenant with Entra identity and administrative controls. The runtime was in public preview. Microsoft 365 and Fabric connections and Microsoft sign-in for built applications were available, while Entra workspace sign-in was included in Business and Enterprise plans.[28]

TanStack Start vulnerability disclosure

Lovable said its security team discovered TanStack Start vulnerability CVE-2026-102989 on September 14, reported it to maintainers and deployed firewall rules for hosted applications. Affected dependencies would be upgraded when projects were next edited. It reported no evidence of exploitation in reviewed logs and said not every application using the framework was exploitable. Independently hosted deployments were outside Lovable’s hosting protections and required their own updates and redeployment.[29]

How the product works and its uses

Lovable uses conversation as its main interface: users describe a goal, give feedback and progressively modify interfaces, data handling and business logic. The product combines code generation, visual adjustments, collaboration, hosting and external-service connections for websites, interactive prototypes, commerce pages and internal tools. It provides real code and application workflows, but generated results still require inspection and validation against the relevant business requirements.[30][7][12][31]

Service entity, billing and data permissions

When checked in September 2026, the terms identified Lovable Labs Incorporated as the contracting entity and lovable.dev as the official website. They defined Credits as prepaid units for using the platform, Cloud, AI Gateway and related features, with consumption varying by plan and function. Project-editor visibility and published-site access are separate settings: a publicly accessible website does not necessarily require its source code and building chats to be public.[31][15]
