Amy Lowell
Amy Lowell(1874年2月9日—1925年5月12日)是美國詩人、文學評論家和藏書家,參與推廣意象派詩歌,組織出版Some Imagist Poets詩選。她的著作包括Sword Blades and Poppy Seed及John Keats傳記,並與Florence Ayscough合作完成中國詩歌英譯集Fir-Flower Tablets。她向哈佛遺贈珍本與手稿,以遺囑設立詩人旅行獎學金,並於1926年憑What’s O’Clock獲追授普利策詩歌獎。

Amy Lowell出生於美國馬薩諸塞州布魯克萊因的Sevenels家族莊園。新罕布什爾歷史學會以Amy Lawrence Lowell收錄她的檔案;父母為Augustus Lowell和Katherine Bigelow Lawrence,兄長包括天文學家Percival Lowell與後來擔任哈佛校長的Abbott Lawrence LowellAbbott Lawrence LowellAbbott Lawrence Lowell(1856—1943),亦稱A. 1887年參與家庭文集
Lowell與母親、姐姐共同寫作Dream Drops or Stories From Fairy Land by a Dreamer,由波士頓Cupples and Hurd私人印行。她早年接受家庭教師與私立學校教育,後來繼續通過閱讀家中藏書學習文學。[2]
1910年在Atlantic Monthly發表詩作
她的詩作發表於Atlantic Monthly,隨後陸續向其他期刊發表作品。[2]
1912年10月出版首部詩集
Houghton Mifflin出版Lowell的首部詩集A Dome of Many-Coloured Glass,標誌著她以詩集形式進入文壇。[2]

1915年至1917年組織Some Imagist Poets詩選
1916年至1919年繼續出版詩集
她先後出版Men, Women and Ghosts(1916年)、Can Grande’s Castle(1918年)和Pictures of the Floating World(1919年),持續推進詩歌創作。[3]
1917年出版美國現代詩歌評論
Lowell出版Tendencies in Modern American Poetry。她此前還於1915年出版Six French Poets: Studies in Contemporary Literature,將詩歌寫作與文學評論結合。[3]
1921年12月合作出版中國詩歌英譯集
Lowell與Florence Ayscough合作的Fir-Flower Tablets由Houghton Mifflin出版。書中版權頁明確列出1921年12月首次出版,1922年10月及1926年2月重印。Lowell在序言說明自己不懂中文,由Ayscough提供逐字解釋、釋義和背景說明,她據此完成英語詩歌表達,再交回核對原文。[6]
