January 18, 2026Discussing Product Leadership and Organizational Change
In an interview with David Senra, Lütke recalled that after the IPO he had tried to work as a more conventional CEO; during the pandemic, he re-examined the company’s projects and invited colleagues with entrepreneurial experience to take on more management responsibility. He argued that a company should improve its products through differentiation and continuous learning, and that simply following competitors tends to lead to reactive decisions.[14]
On AI, he described it as an opportunity to redesign the tools of commerce, and named helping more people become entrepreneurs as his personal career goal. These remarks are his own assessments of his work and of the future impact of technology.[15]
