Founding and Leading Mixpanel

In 2009, at age 20, Doshi founded Mixpanel, which provides analytics tools for mobile and web apps; Tim Trefren joined as co-founder a few months later. Mixpanel was part of Y Combinator’s Summer 2009 batch and is based in San Francisco. Doshi recalled, “Half of our Y Combinator batch died that year, like almost instantly.”[1][2]

During early fundraising, 11 investors turned Mixpanel down, two of them saying the company needed a new CEO; Max Levchin invested as a seed investor. The two founders had not initially decided who would be CEO, and Doshi eventually took the role.[1]
