Steven Pinker

Steven Pinker是加拿大出生的實驗心理學家和科普作家，研究語言、認知與社會關係，曾任教於MIT二十餘年，2003年起任HarvardHarvard UniversityHarvard University（哈佛大學）是位於美國馬薩諸塞州的私立研究型大學，1636年由馬薩諸塞灣殖民地議會批准設立，1639年以早期捐助人 John Harvard 命名。學校以劍橋、波士頓 Allston 和 Longwood 為主要校區，設 Harvard College、本科以外的專業與研究生學院及 Radcliffe 高等研究院。學校由 Harvard Corporation 與 Board of Overseers 兩個治理機構共同履職；截至2026年10月，校長為 Alan M. 1954年9月18日出生於蒙特利爾

Pinker於1954年9月18日出生在加拿大蒙特利爾，1976年獲McGill University心理學學士學位。⁠[1]

他自述成長於蒙特利爾講英語的猶太社區；父親Harry Pinker（1928—2015）做過推銷員、小房東和律師，母親Rose “Roslyn” Wiesenfeld Pinker（1934—2023）曾任蒙特利爾Bialik High School的輔導員和副校長；作家Susan Pinker是他的姐妹。⁠[2]

1979年獲Harvard博士學位

1979年，他獲Harvard University實驗心理學博士學位，隨後在MIT做博士後。⁠[1]

1982年加入MIT

在Harvard和Stanford各任教一年後，Pinker於1982年加入MIT，此後在該校任教21年，最終擔任腦與認知科學系Peter de Florez心理學教授。⁠[3]

1994年出版《The Language Instinct》

1994年，他出版《The Language Instinct》，主張語言是一種由進化“wired into our brains”（植入大腦）的人類本能，心智是一組為解決進化問題而適應形成的本能。⁠[5]

2023年4月共同發起Harvard學術自由委員會

2023年4月，Pinker與70多名Harvard教授成立Council on Academic Freedom at Harvard，他是六名聯合主席之一；他與Harvard Medical School教授Bertha Madras撰文稱，該會將推動保護學術自由的政策。⁠[15]

2025年5月批評聯邦政府對Harvard的行動

2025年5月，在聯邦政府取消Harvard超過20億美元研究經費並試圖阻止其招收國際學生後，Pinker稱這些行動是“out-and-out authoritarianism”（徹頭徹尾的威權主義），同時承認Harvard存在問題。⁠[16]
