Key facts

Founder and Early Research

Harvard Business School’s 2025–2026 Blavatnik Fellows announcement identified Cody Tranbarger as Mithril Medicine’s founder and acting CEO, developing antibody therapies for genetic diseases. He completed the biotechnology MS/MBA program in 2025 and was an entrepreneur-in-residence at Atlas Venture, following roles at Prime Medicine and Casdin Capital.[1]

Founder Selected as Termeer Fellow

The Termeer Institute selected Tranbarger among 17 first-time life-sciences CEOs in its 2026 fellowship, identifying him as Mithril Medicine’s founder and CEO. The program provides leadership development, coaching, mentoring and professional networks for early-stage company leaders.[2]

The institute’s biography described Mithril as a seed-stage developer of antibody therapies for rare genetic disorders. Tranbarger also served with Cure Rare Disease and Accelerating Breakthroughs in EB, connecting his company-building and investment experience with rare-disease research support.[3]

Acquired by Anthropic

Bridging-Antibody Study

The LAMA2-CMD study examined antibodies bridging laminin-α4 and β-dystroglycan. A tetravalent construct was associated with doubled force and grip strength in diseased mice.[5]

Evidence Limitations

The unreviewed report used a small, nonrandomized mouse study without a safety assessment. These preclinical findings do not establish human efficacy.[5]

Lean Research Organization

The founder described one full-time employee coordinating consultants, contract laboratories and Claude to reach in-vivo proof of concept in under 18 months. He called the model “Pipeline-in-a-Person”; specialist and experimental work still involved external teams.[4]
