The Team Begins Collaborating

By the company’s own account, its history dates back to 2018, when a group of PR and social media marketing professionals came together to collaborate on a project.[1]

Formal Establishment

Maximatic Media was formally established in 2020. According to the company, before its founding most of the team worked agency-side or as in-house digital marketing and communications coordinators; having seen the churn-and-burn nature of large all-in-one agencies, they chose to offer highly specialized services to a select few clients, with specific deliverables such as securing a particular media placement or verifying a particular social media account, and to charge only for results achieved.[1][1][1][1][1]

According to the company’s public descriptions, Maximatic Media was formally founded in 2020 by Jeremy Ong and Nikolas Lemmel, with Lemmel serving as co-founder and managing director.[2][3]

Escrow Payments Introduced

On April 24, 2023, Maximatic Media announced in a paid press release that it was introducing an escrow-facilitated payment system for clients, saying it would charge only for services that deliver tangible results in order to improve transparency and accountability in the PR industry. Lemmel said that PR is largely done on a “who-you-know” and “who-you-pay” basis, and that the company’s principle is that clients choose the placements they want and the company is paid only if it delivers.[3][4][3][3][3]

Wikipedia and Knowledge Panel Guides

On June 24, 2023, Lemmel, describing himself as the company’s team lead, published two long articles on the company website, one on how to create and self-publish a Wikipedia page and one on how to create a Google Knowledge Panel, summarizing the company’s experience in getting Wikipedia pages to “stick” (remain undeleted after publication) and in stabilizing knowledge panels.[5][5][5][5][6][6]

April–July 2024: Company Profiles in Several Outlets

On April 17, 2024, Rolling Stone UK published an article bylined by Jon Stojan about the company’s music PR business. In it, Lemmel discussed the performance-based payment model and the services offered to musicians, including Wikipedia pages, Google Knowledge Panels, social media verification and username claims, and said the company could secure placements on Spotify and Apple Music editorial playlists for clients.[2][2][2][2][2][2]

On July 2, 2024, the contributor section of Entrepreneur India published an article bylined by Jitender Bhagat that used the company as an example to describe the industry of paid Wikipedia page creation. In it, Lemmel said that many clients want their pages to be long and laudatory, but that being concise and neutral is the key to a page surviving review and staying live; responding to criticism that such services commodify the encyclopedia platform, he said the company is aware of the ethical considerations and has no desire to “game” Wikipedia; he also said that for clients without sufficient media coverage, obtaining coverage through PR is an essential step toward establishing a Wikipedia page.[7][7][7][7][7][7][7][7]

On July 5, 2024, the San Francisco Examiner published an article in its “Marketplace Contributor Content” section about the company’s Google review removal service. In it, Lemmel said the company does not simply remove reviews but analyzes the broader impact of each review on a client’s business and online presence.[8][8]
