Investment approach
H&F follows a single private equity strategy, concentrating on industries it knows. It makes both controlling investments and influential minority investments, using different transaction and capital structures to support business development.[1]
Investment sectors and management
H&F focuses on growth businesses in developed markets, principally in technology, healthcare, consumer services and retail, financial services, and information, content and business services. Its deal teams also oversee investments after closing and work with management on business development plans. At year-end 2025, the firm had more than 90 investment professionals, with partners averaging 18 years at H&F.[104]
As of December 31, 2025, the firm reported more than approximately $115 billion in assets under management, comprising unrealized investment value and uncalled commitments for advisory clients and co-investment vehicles. The measure excludes other assets such as cash, cash equivalents, prepaid taxes and receivables. H&F does not charge portfolio companies transaction or monitoring fees; where such fees arise in co-investment arrangements, the net amounts offset fund management fees.[1][104]
Portfolio company history
H&F's public directory contains 83 company records: 29 marked Current and 54 marked Past. It selects investments of at least $100 million by H&F and excludes one 1993 telecommunications investment; it is not a complete list of historical investments or assets. The tables below group companies by sector, listing investment years and business histories. Records such as Nets and Nexi, or ABRA and Caliber, have merger and succession relationships, so the number of names should not be treated as a count of independent investments.[4]
Technology investments
