Reuters Connect is Reuters’ digital content platform and licensing marketplace for clients such as news organizations. Launched in May 2017, it brings Reuters’ text, pictures, video, graphics, and other multimedia content together with content from third-party media organizations on a single platform, where clients can search, subscribe to, and license it.

The platform is available by subscription and introduced a points-based spending model called Reuters Points: clients receive points in quarterly allocations and can use them freely across topics and media formats on content from Reuters and its partners, so that they can adjust their editorial spend in line with the news agenda; clients can also continue to subscribe to unlimited content consumption. At launch, the platform was opened first to an initial group of customers, with plans to roll it out more broadly in the following months.[1][1][1][1]
October 19, 2017Launching a Live Video Service
On October 19, 2017, Reuters launched a new live video service on Reuters Connect that provides real-time coverage of up to six concurrent news events. Aimed at television broadcasters and professional video publishers, it can integrate with digital and broadcast production workflows. At the time, the platform featured more than 13 million photos, videos, graphics, and text assets.[3][3][3]
January 23, 2018Expanding Sports Content
In January 2018, Reuters announced expanded sports content through partnerships with Field Level Media and Opta: the former provides news, recaps, roundups, and analysis of sports events in North America, and the latter provides live data across global leagues, building on an existing content partnership with Perform’s Omnisport. The content is available on Reuters News Agency products including Reuters Connect.[4][4][4][4][4]
May 17, 2018Expanding Entertainment Content
In May 2018, Reuters announced expanded entertainment content through partnerships with WENN, Runway Manhattan, and mptvimages: WENN provides celebrity pictures, mptvimages provides classic archive images, and Runway Manhattan provides fashion photos and video. Content from WENN and Runway Manhattan became available on Reuters Connect immediately, and mptvimages content followed in the subsequent weeks.[5][5][5][5][5][5]
February 27, 2019Five New Sports Content Providers
In February 2019, Reuters announced that the Players’ Tribune, AFLO, Panoramic, Sporting Images, and MB Media were joining, providing athlete video interviews, more than 50,000 curated archival images, more than 6,000 player headshots, and regional photo coverage from Japan and France; this content is available to Reuters News Agency customers exclusively on Reuters Connect.[6][6][6]
August 20, 2019Announcing the Productivity Suite
In August 2019, Reuters announced that it would add partner-provided production tools to Reuters Connect to form a Productivity Suite. The first partners were Stringr, which provides custom video footage; Amper Music, which provides AI-generated, rights-cleared soundtracks; and the online video editing tool InVideo. Clients can use these services with their existing Reuters points. At the time, the platform already offered more than 15 million pieces of content.[7][7][7][7][7]
November 4, 2019EFE News Agency Joins
On November 4, 2019, the Spanish international news agency EFE became a content partner on Reuters Connect, providing global news with a focus on Spain and Spanish-speaking countries, as well as Spanish and English language news feeds. At the time, the platform offered more than 15 million pieces of content in nine languages from more than 50 providers, including Accuweather, BBC, CCTV, Jukin, National Geographic, PBS NewsHour, PA Media, The Guardian, and USA Today. EFE was founded in 1939 and is headquartered in Madrid.[8][8][8][8][8][9]
November 19, 2019Seven News Agencies Join
On November 19, 2019, Reuters announced that seven news agencies, AAP (Australia), Anadolu (Turkey), Belga (Belgium), Bernama (Malaysia), DPA (Germany), Latin America News Agency (Argentina), and Scanpix (Scandinavia and the Baltics), were joining Reuters Connect, alongside eight agencies already on the platform: PA Media, EFE, Imagine China, Aflo, Panoramic, Bildbryan, ANI, and ABACA PRESS. Together with the output of Reuters’ roughly 2,500 journalists, the platform offered more than 20 million pieces of content; its clients include broadcasters, publishers, corporations, and governments, who can choose content using Reuters Points.[10][10][10][10][10]
Platform Features and Licensing Options
As of October 2026, Reuters Connect brings together all Reuters content, including an archive dating back to 1896, along with multimedia content from more than 100 partners, spanning text, video, live video, pictures, graphics, and audio. The platform offers search and an API, flexible commercial models such as metered subscriptions, detailed usage reports, planning tools such as alerts and an editorial calendar, and round-the-clock live support.[11][11][11][11][11][11][11][11]
