Sunset Plaza Flagship Opens

Monarch Athletic Club was co-founded by Ryan M. Greene and Paul Freschi, Director of Performance. Around the start of 2020, the club opened a 5,000-square-foot members-only flagship facility in Sunset Plaza offering physician-directed programs, with a nutrition bar and a basement cocktail lounge under construction. Founding physician and CEO Ryan M. Greene is an osteopathic physician who earned a Master of Science in exercise physiology and related fields at the University of Illinois and completed post-graduate medical training at Dartmouth and the Mayo Clinic.[1][2][2][2][2][2][2][2][2]

Membership at opening included unlimited private personal training and Pilates sessions, small group yoga and stretching classes, a performance physician and nutritionist, and a recovery suite, with add-ons such as metabolic panel testing, sports massages, physical therapy, and IV therapy. Within the first week of joining, each member received an evaluation of their past medical history from Greene.[2][2][2]

Two Clubs in California

As of July 2023, Monarch operated two clubs in California. Co-founder and Medical Director Greene said the clubs aim to bring preventive care, movement, and personalized health programming together in one place, and that the clubs were authorized to remain open during the COVID-19 pandemic; he said the idea came from a weekend he spent observing shoppers at the Mall of America while serving as a Sports Medicine Clinical Research Fellow at the Mayo Clinic.[3][3][3][3]

Miami Beach Expansion Announced

In October 2025, Monarch announced an 8,000-square-foot facility at The RIVANI, an office building at 1691 Michigan Avenue in Miami Beach, as its first East Coast location and its first location outside California. The facility is on the building’s amenity deck and includes a cold plunge and sauna. The RIVANI was redeveloped for $100 million by developer Robert Rivani, who said Monarch was arguably the most significant amenity of any South Florida office building.[1][4][4][1]
