Incorporation

On October 5, 2006, the company was incorporated under the laws of the State of Israel as Wixpress Ltd. and began operations the same day; it was later renamed Wix.com Ltd. Its co-founders are brothers Avishai Abrahami and Nadav Abrahami, and Giora Kaplan. Avishai Abrahami has been a director since 2006 and, as of 2026, had served as Chief Executive Officer for about 19 years.⁠[1][1][1][1][2][2]

Launch of the Wix Editor

In April 2008, Wix launched the Wix Editor, a website editor based on the Flash format; in October of that year it launched its premium subscription offering. By July 2009, the platform had passed 1 million users and had 20,495 premium subscriptions.⁠[1][1]

10 Million Users

In June 2011, Wix reached 10 million users; by January 2012, the platform supported five languages, with users in 190 countries.⁠[1]

Launch of the HTML5 Editor

In March 2012, Wix released a new HTML5-based editor with improved support for mobile devices; in April of that year it reached 20 million registered users. In October, Wix introduced the App Market, offering applications developed by Wix and third parties that can be integrated into users’ websites to add workflow functionality.⁠[1][1][1][1]

Nasdaq Listing

In November 2013, Wix made an initial public offering of 7.7 million ordinary shares at $16.50 per share (the prospectus is dated November 5), of which the company sold 5,712,446 shares and existing shareholders sold the rest; the shares were listed on the Nasdaq Global Market under the symbol WIX, and the company received net proceeds of about $93.6 million. Editor Rebuilt

In October 2015, Wix launched a redesigned Wix Editor, with the platform’s codebase completely restructured using Facebook’s React technology.⁠[3]

Launch of Wix ADI

In June 2016, Wix launched Wix Artificial Design Intelligence (Wix ADI), which lets users create a complete, personalized website in minutes.⁠[3][3]

Acquisition of DeviantArt

In February 2017, Wix acquired DeviantArt, a Los Angeles-based online art community, for about $36 million in cash (including the assumption of about $3 million of liabilities), the company’s first significant acquisition; that year it also acquired Israeli-based Loyalblocks (Flok), a provider of customer loyalty tools for small businesses. In July, Wix launched Wix Code, a development platform for building more advanced websites and web applications.⁠[3][3][3][3][3][3]

New Wix Editor and New Headquarters

In July 2022, Wix relaunched the Wix Editor, combining it with the former Wix ADI. On October 14 of that year, the company took possession of its new Tel Aviv headquarters, Wix Campus, under a lease with an initial term of 10 years and options to extend for up to 15 more years; it moved into the second stage on October 9, 2023.⁠[4][2][2][2]

Launch of Wix Studio

In August 2023, Wix launched Wix Studio, a website and application development platform that replaced its previous professional design product, Editor X. In 2023, the company achieved positive GAAP net income, two years earlier than anticipated under its Three-Year Plan.⁠[4][4][2]

Acquisition of Hour One

On May 13, 2025, Wix acquired all of the shares of Hour One AI Ltd., a generative AI media platform for scalable creation of personalized video and interactive content, for about $6.67 million in cash.⁠[2][2][2]

Acquisition of Base44

On June 18, 2025, Wix announced its acquisition of Base44, an Israeli early-stage startup. Base44 offers a “vibe coding” platform that builds fully functional web and mobile applications from natural-language prompts, automatically generating the front end, back end, databases, authentication, and deployment infrastructure. Wix paid initial consideration of about $80 million plus earn-out payments based on performance through 2029; on the annual report’s basis, total consideration was about $92 million, including contingent consideration. Base44’s CEO is Maor Shlomo, and after the acquisition it continued to operate as a distinct product and business.⁠[5][2][2][5][2][5][5]

2030 Convertible Notes Issued

In September 2025, Wix sold $1.15 billion aggregate principal amount of 0.00% Convertible Senior Notes due 2030 in a private offering to qualified institutional buyers.⁠[2][2]

Launch of Wix Harmony

In January 2026, Wix released Wix Harmony, its new flagship AI website builder, which combines vibe coding with drag-and-drop design and lets users build sites by describing what they want in natural language to an AI agent called Aria.⁠[2][2][2]

Fiscal 2025 Annual Report

In 2025, Wix’s total revenue was $1.99 billion, up 13% year over year, including Creative Subscriptions Revenue of $1.41 billion and Business Solutions Revenue of $583.3 million. As of the end of 2025, it had about 304.2 million registered users (282.4 million a year earlier) and about 6.1 million premium subscriptions; the company had 4,622 employees, 3,273 of them in Israel, and 5,340 including contractors. Avishai Abrahami served as CEO and Honorary Chairman, and Mark Tluszcz as Chairman of the Board.⁠[2][2][2][2][2][2][2][2][2]

On March 3, 2026, Wix entered into a $500 million credit facility agreement with Hapoalim Bank; on March 5, the company issued 3,266,699 ordinary shares and warrants in a private placement for gross proceeds of about $260 million, and the same day announced a “modified Dutch Auction” tender offer to repurchase up to $1.75 billion of its ordinary shares.⁠[2][2][2][2]

Tender Offer Results

The tender offer expired on April 1, 2026. On April 3, Wix announced the final results: it accepted 17,577,250 shares at $92 per share, for a total of about $1.617 billion, about 29.7% of the shares outstanding as of April 1. President Nir Zohar said the repurchase amounted to nearly 30% of the company’s market capitalization.⁠[6][6][6][6][6][6]

Products and Business Model

Wix operates a freemium SaaS business model, with website-building products including Wix Harmony and Wix Editor for general users, Wix Studio for design agencies and enterprises, and the no-code application platform Base44. Its revenue is divided into Creative Subscriptions (premium subscriptions, domains, and more) and Business Solutions (Google Workspace resales, Payments by Wix, paid ad campaigns, email marketing, Wix POS, Wix Logo Maker, its subsidiary DeviantArt, and more), which accounted for about 71% and 29% of total revenue in 2025, respectively.⁠[2][2][2][2][2][2][2]

The company is a company limited by shares, with its principal executive offices at Wix Campus in Tel Aviv, where its research and development is mainly conducted.⁠[2][2][2]
