Founding

Hutt Capital was founded by Brooke Pollack in 2018 and has invested exclusively in blockchain since its formation, initially positioned as a fund of funds platform across fund, secondary, and direct investments. Pollack, the managing partner, previously spent about a decade investing across private fund, secondary, and direct strategies: he spent more than four years at the venture capital platform Greenspring Associates, where he worked on transactions representing over $750 million of invested or committed capital and spearheaded its blockchain and crypto efforts; before that, he worked on private equity secondary transactions at Hamilton Lane, and was responsible for sourcing and diligence of fund investments at CTC Consulting, an investment consulting firm for ultra-high-net-worth clients.[1][2][2][2][2][2]

First Blockchain Venture Landscape Report

In 2019, Hutt Capital released its first blockchain venture capital report and has since published an annual landscape report tracking the number and size of closed-end blockchain venture funds, with data from its internal tracking system.[3][3][3]

Closing Fund I

On November 2, 2021, Hutt Capital announced the close of its first fund, Hutt Capital Fund I, at $23.4 million, with the goal of building an independent venture fund of funds platform dedicated to blockchain, investing across CeFi, DeFi, NFTs, infrastructure, gaming, DAOs, and other areas. As of the announcement, it had partnered with 10 early-stage blockchain venture firms, including Acrylic, BITKRAFT Ventures, Blockchain Capital, Castle Island Ventures, Framework Ventures, and Variant, and had completed five direct or co-investments in Amber Group, BlockFi, Easy Crypto, Forte, and Wintermute.[4][4][4][4][4][4]

Closing Fund II

On April 12, 2023, Hutt Capital announced that it had raised $31.3 million for its second fund, Hutt Capital Fund II. By then, it had partnered with 19 blockchain venture fund managers, two of which, Seed Club Ventures and Hydra Ventures, were venture DAOs; it invests primarily in traditionally structured closed-end venture funds, while also making direct investments mainly at the Series A and Series B stages and buying LP interests and existing company shares.[6][6][6][6]

The announcement set out its investment beliefs, including that outsized returns come mainly from the pre-seed and seed stages and that smaller funds will outperform larger ones; that closed-end funds are the optimal structure for early-stage venture capital; and that individual managers should focus on specific areas while the overall portfolio should be diversified across sub-sectors. The firm also partnered with Re7 Capital to provide liquidity to DeFi protocols in its managers’ portfolios.[6][6][6][6][6]

Seventh Annual Landscape Report

On October 9, 2025, Hutt Capital published its seventh annual blockchain venture landscape report, tracking 263 blockchain venture funds (up from 254 in 2024) with a combined size of $28.7 billion.[3][3][3]

Becoming a Blockchain Venture Secondaries Firm

On July 14, 2026, Hutt Capital published “Hutt Capital 2.0,” announcing that it would focus the majority of its capital on blockchain venture secondaries going forward: buying LP interests in existing blockchain venture funds, buying shares from early investors and other shareholders in more mature blockchain companies, and considering structures such as fund restructurings, strip sales, or buying out entire funds. It said that capital was mostly flowing to AI, while capital in blockchain had become disciplined and more focused on fundamentals; its past LP secondary investments, held for an average of about two years, had realized 29% of invested capital.[1][1][1][1][1][1][1][1]
