Bloomberg TV (officially Bloomberg Television) is a global business and financial news television channel owned by Bloomberg L.P. It provides live market news, analysis, and interviews, with separate programming for the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region.

Launch

In 1994, Bloomberg launched a 24-hour financial news television channel. It was initially available only on DirecTV satellite television, but soon moved to cable television.⁠[1]

Broadcasting as Bloomberg Information Television

In April 1996, the channel was called Bloomberg Information Television (BLOOMBERG Information TV), a 24-hour news service available on DirecTV satellite television and cable outlets. Its half-hour program cycle covered national and international news, markets, weather, sports, and lifestyle information in a multi-screen format: stock, bond, and commodity updates and sports scores scrolled in the upper left, reporters delivered news in the upper right, and live market prices scrolled across a panel at the bottom.⁠[2][2][2][2][2][2][2][2][2]

Launching Bloomberg TV+

In 2019, Bloomberg launched Bloomberg TV+, which overlays Bloomberg TV programming with data graphics designed for a 4K UHD display, aimed at streaming viewers.⁠[3][3]

Revamping European Morning Programming

On December 9, 2019, the channel revamped its European morning programming: Bloomberg Markets: European Open was expanded by 30 minutes to become a two-hour show from 0700 to 0900 GMT, co-anchored from London and Berlin, and Daybreak Europe was condensed into one hour. Al Mayers, global head of Bloomberg Television and Radio, said that Brexit was shifting the center of gravity of finance in Europe and that coverage must reflect the priorities of audiences across the continent. At the time, the channel delivered 24 hours of global business and financial news from studio hubs in Hong Kong, Dubai, London, New York, and San Francisco, reaching more than 433 million homes in 70 countries.⁠[4][4][4][4][4][4]

Bloomberg TV+ Launches on Samsung TV Plus

On May 20, 2020, Bloomberg TV+ launched in 4K UHD on Samsung TV Plus, Samsung’s free smart TV video service, becoming the first 4K channel on the service.⁠[3][3][3]

Dropped by DirecTV

After the two sides’ agreement expired on September 30, 2021, DirecTV dropped Bloomberg TV from its satellite service, DirecTV Stream, and U-verse packages, saying that several attempts to renew the relationship had failed to reach a mutual agreement. Bloomberg called the decision disappointing, stressed that the two sides had been in active negotiations, and said the channel remained available through other carriers and the Bloomberg TV+ app.⁠[5][5][5][5]

Launching Bloomberg Originals

In January 2023, Bloomberg launched Bloomberg Originals, an original content studio with a dedicated stream, which by October 2025 had produced 26 original series and feature-length documentaries.⁠[6]

Global Schedule Changes

From January 22, 2024, the channel changed its daily programming lineups in the Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions: the flagship morning show Surveillance was expanded and moved to a new studio at Bloomberg’s global headquarters in New York, led by Jonathan Ferro; in Europe, Francine Lacqua continued to anchor the weekday program The Pulse with Francine Lacqua and the long-format interview show Leaders with Lacqua.⁠[7][7][7][7][7]

Expanding Technology Programming

On June 5, 2025, the channel announced two new monthly technology programs, Bloomberg Tech: Asia and Bloomberg Tech: Europe, broadcasting from Tokyo and Hong Kong and from London, respectively; at the same time, its daily technology program in the United States was revamped and rebranded as Bloomberg Tech.⁠[8][8][8][8]

Arriving on YouTube TV

On October 28, 2025, the Bloomberg TV+ and Bloomberg Originals channel streams joined the YouTubeYouTubeYouTube is Google’s video-sharing and creator platform, founded in 2005 by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim and acquired by Google in 2006. Built around video uploading, viewing, and creator earnings, the platform has developed Shorts, YouTube Music, Premium, YouTube TV, and products for children, and is headquartered in San Bruno, California, United States.Open the full entry TV base plan, and Bloomberg TV+ became the first 24-hour news channel on the platform delivered in 4K UHD. At the time, the channel’s main daily programs included Surveillance, Open Interest, Bloomberg Tech, Balance of Power, The Close, Horizons: Middle East and Africa, Insight with Haslinda Amin, The Pulse with Francine Lacqua, The China Show, and Wall Street Week.⁠[6][6][6][6]

EMEA Schedule Update

From January 5, 2026, the channel updated its EMEA weekday programming lineup: Lizzy Burden joined Daybreak Europe and Tom Mackenzie joined The Opening Trade. The block opens with Bloomberg Horizons Middle East and Africa, anchored by Joumanna Bercetche in Dubai, and closes with The Pulse with Francine Lacqua at 9am GMT.⁠[9][9][9][9][9]

Bloomberg This Weekend Premieres

On February 28, 2026, the live weekend program Bloomberg This Weekend premiered, hosted by David Gura, Christina Ruffini, and Lisa Mateo. The three-hour broadcast airs on Saturday and Sunday mornings simultaneously on television, radio, and digital platforms, expanding Bloomberg’s live coverage to seven days a week.⁠[10][10][10][10][10]

Season Two of Leaders with Francine Lacqua to Premiere

Season two of the Bloomberg Originals series Leaders with Francine Lacqua is scheduled to premiere on Bloomberg.com on October 8, 2026, and will debut on Bloomberg Television on October 12. The six-episode season opens with an interview with Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, director-general of the World Trade Organization. Host Lacqua is Bloomberg Television’s London-based anchor and editor-at-large, who joined Bloomberg in 2000 and also anchors the weekday interview program The Pulse with Francine Lacqua, whose guests include leading figures in business, economics, finance, and politics.⁠[12][12][12][12][12][12]

Reach and Distribution Channels

As of December 2025, Bloomberg Television broadcast from studios in New York, London, and Hong Kong to more than 400 million homes worldwide, covering the people, companies, and ideas that move the markets; Bloomberg TV+ is a digitally enhanced version that combines Bloomberg data with its programming. The channel is streamed live on Bloomberg.com, is available to Bloomberg Terminal subscribers through the TV <GO> function, and is also carried locally on satellite and streaming services.
