Benajah Harvey Carroll

Benajah Harvey Carroll（B. H. Carroll，1843年12月27日—1914年11月11日）是美國浸信會牧師、教育家，曾任得克薩斯州 Waco 第一浸信會牧師28年，並長期在 Baylor University 講授聖經與神學。他推動創辦 Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary，該校1908年3月14日獲准成立，他任首任校長直至去世。代表作為17卷本《An Interpretation of the English Bible》。

早年與教育

Benajah Harvey Carroll 於1843年12月27日生於美國密西西比州 Carrollton 附近。他1859年進入 Baylor University 就讀並獲學士學位，後獲田納西大學榮譽文學碩士與神學博士、Keatchie College 榮譽法學博士學位。⁠[1]

1861年參加內戰

1861年，Carroll 加入 Benjamin McCulloch 的得州遊騎兵，後轉入第十七得州步兵團。⁠[1]

1871年出任 Waco 第一浸信會牧師

1871年至1899年，Carroll 任得克薩斯州 Waco 第一浸信會（First Baptist Church）牧師。1872年至1905年，他在 Baylor University 講授聖經與神學，並自1886年起任該校董事會主席。⁠[1]

1905年組建 Baylor Theological Seminary

1905年春，Carroll 乘火車途經得州狹長地帶時萌生創辦神學院、培養西南地區傳道人的構想。同年他組建 Baylor Theological Seminary。⁠[2][1]

1908年3月14日Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary 成立

1908年3月14日，在 Carroll 推動下，Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary 在 Waco 正式獲准成立，校董會選舉他為首任校長。1910年，學校由 Waco 遷往 Fort Worth。⁠[3]

1913年出版《An Interpretation of the English Bible》

1913年，Carroll 的主要著作、17卷本聖經註釋《An Interpretation of the English Bible》出版。同年，L. R. Scarborough 被任命為學校副校長。⁠[1][2]

1914年11月11日在 Fort Worth 去世

1914年11月11日，Carroll 在 Fort Worth 去世，L. R. Scarborough 繼任 Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary 校長。⁠[1][2]

2021年3月10日講道集出版

2021年3月，Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary 旗下 Seminary Hill Press 出版《The B. H. Carroll Pulpit》，收錄 Carroll 的40篇講道與演講，由該校第九任校長 Adam W. Greenway 編輯。⁠[4]
