At the time of the acquisition Tire Kingdom had 148 stores, was based in Riviera Beach, Florida, and had generated nearly $225 million in sales in 1999; it marked TBC’s first large-scale move into directly owning retail stores.[2][2][2][3][3][4]

By the end of 2000 Tire Kingdom operated 163 retail tire and automotive service centers in the southeastern United States, 145 of them in Florida, where it was one of the leading tire retailers; about 2,000 of TBC’s roughly 2,900 employees worked for Tire Kingdom.[2][2][2]
