Harry Yeh
Harry Yeh was a Hong Kong-born cryptocurrency investor raised in Canada who began investing in Bitcoin in 2013, later founded the crypto asset manager Quantum Fintech Group, and was closely associated with decentralized-finance projects in the Fantom ecosystem such as Tomb Finance and LIF3. In the early hours of August 7, 2026, he died after falling from the 30th floor of the Jade Park residential tower in Asunción, Paraguay; the prosecutor’s office forensic examiner determined the cause of death to be multiple trauma from the fall.

Key facts
Early Life: Born in Hong Kong, Raised in Canada
2013Investing in Bitcoin and Founding Binary Financial
In 2013, when Bitcoin was priced at around $60, Yeh bought his first Bitcoins for $500, set up his first fund with $250,000 later that year, and founded Binary Financial. The firm later developed into Quantum Fintech Group, expanding its investment scope to cryptocurrencies, blockchain, and other digital assets, and described itself as an investment manager and trading operation focused on digital assets and blockchain projects.[1][1][1][3]
August 7, 2026Death in a Fall in Asunción
At about 4:30 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, Paraguay’s National Police reported over its radio system that a man who had fallen from a height had been found at the foot of the Jade Park residential complex in Asunción’s Trinidad district; the deceased was later preliminarily identified as Harry Chun Tak Yeh. Police believed he fell from the building’s 30th floor, a drop of about 100 meters.[4][5][5][5][6]
August 2026Police and Prosecutors Investigate
Duty prosecutor María del Carmen Palazón took charge of the case; forensic technicians photographed and collected evidence on the public road and in the 30th-floor apartment, and homicide officers took statements from neighbors and building staff about the deceased’s movements. Homicide department chief Abel Cantero said evidence from both the 27th and 30th floors had been sent to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The body was taken to the Judicial Morgue for an autopsy, and prosecutors said they were keeping all possibilities open, including an accident, suicide, or the involvement of third parties.[4][5][5][5][5][5]
On August 12, Asunción police director Francisco Ávalos said the deceased was presumed to have been alone at the time; given the complex’s tight security, he considered the possibility that someone had entered and pushed him “remote,” though he did not rule it out. Because the incident came amid a global rise in violent extortion targeting crypto-asset holders, members of the crypto community speculated about a “wrench attack,” and police at the time had not ruled out several possibilities.[4][4][4][2][2]
August 14, 2026Forensic Autopsy Findings
On August 14, forensic pathologist Pablo Lemir, director of legal medicine and forensic sciences at the Public Prosecutor’s Office, confirmed that Yeh died of multiple trauma from the fall from the 30th floor; there were no sharp-object wounds on the body, and X-rays showed no gunshot wounds. Because of the state of the body, no blood could be drawn for toxicology tests. The prosecutors’ investigation continued.[7][7][7][7][7][8]
August 21, 2026Family Lawyer Describes the Investigation
On August 21, César Cañete Prette, the lawyer for Yeh’s family, said the prosecutors’ main hypothesis was suicide: their technical examinations had ruled out signs of violence or of outsiders entering the residence before the incident, access-control records were normal, and elevator and hallway surveillance showed nothing suspicious. He said prosecutors were awaiting the final expert reports before formally closing the case.[9][9][9][9][9]
Quantum Fintech Group and DeFi Projects
Yeh was a prominent supporter of the Fantom ecosystem and closely associated with several of its decentralized-finance projects: he was listed as a founder and seed investor in LIF3 and L3 Reserve, his investment history also included Tomb Finance, and the projects he was involved with included ZooCoin and L3USD. A 2024 due-diligence report on LIF3 identified him as the project’s principal investor and as managing director of Quantum Fintech Group.[6][3][3][10][3]
Some of the crypto projects he had heavily promoted collapsed before his death, causing losses for retail investors.[11]
