Experimental Platform Launch

Google introduced a new Labs for testing early ideas and giving teams feedback. Its initial experiments covered Search, Workspace, Project Tailwind and MusicLM. The announcement described the platform as inspired by the earlier Google Labs.[1]

Products: Evolution

Early access invites user feedback. The website lists these transitions: Bard to Google Gemini; VideoFX to Google Flow; Project Tailwind to Gemini Notebook; ProducerAI to Google Flow Music; and MakerSuite to Google AI Studio.[2]

Science: Research Tools

The science experiments include Literature Insights, using Gemini Notebook for literature searches, data tables and reports; Hypothesis Generation, using Co-Scientist’s multi-agent system to identify knowledge gaps and propose testable research plans; and Computational Discovery, using AlphaEvolve and ERA to generate and score code variants against users’ optimization metrics.[3]

Playground: Game Creation

Playground is an experimental gaming platform for creating games through text prompts in a chat interface, without coding experience. Users can start with genres such as trivia, tower defense and racing, or build from scratch. Access is limited to selected countries and users aged 18 or older; a subscription may be required.[4]

Participation: Trusted Tester

The Trusted Tester program recruits people to test early-stage products. Its application asks about location, age range, occupation, languages and AI-tool experience. Applicants agree to contact from Google, honest constructive feedback and the program agreement, and must meet their country’s minimum age for data-processing consent.[5]
