Key facts
2009–2014Predecessor and Founding Year
Erase.com says it was founded in 2009. When David Centner Enterprises announced its acquisition in 2021, however, it said the predecessor company, the Canadian negative content management firm Guaranteed Removals, was founded in 2014 and provided reputation management consulting and services to enterprises and individuals.[1][2]
January 1, 2021David Centner Acquires Guaranteed Removals
David Centner Enterprises, owned by David Centner, acquired Guaranteed Removals in a deal that closed on January 1, 2021. Centner said they had started looking at the company in mid-2019. The acquisition was initially not made public, while the company quietly renamed and rebranded itself as Erase.com.[2][2][2]
July–August 2021: Public Debut as Erase.com
In July 2021, David Centner Enterprises publicly announced the acquisition, and at the same time announced that Erase.com’s corporate headquarters had moved to Miami, Florida, and that Alexander Kurian had been appointed chief executive; Kurian had previously served as chief information officer and chief technology officer of Highway Toll Administration, Centner’s former electronic toll collection technology company. Centner became chairman of Erase.com and described enterprise-level negative content management as a future hypergrowth industry. The company summed up its mission as to “combat the negative,” covering not only content removal but also piracy, malicious doxxing and revenge websites, and said it would stand for people’s right to privacy and the right to be forgotten.[2][2][2][2][2][2][2]
In August 2021, Centner said his inspiration for buying the company came from wanting to solve what he called a “global problem” of unfair reviews, fake news, outdated information and cyberbullying, and that the company helps businesses and individuals combat unfair negative information online.[3][3]
Services and Fee Model
Erase.com’s work falls into three categories: long-term reputation management, which manages how a brand or name appears in Google by building authority, suppressing harmful results and monitoring for new threats; content removal, covering news articles, mugshots, court records, personal information and gripe-site content; and review removal, targeting reviews that violate platform policies on Google, TrustpilotTrustpilotTrustpilot (Trustpilot Group plc) is an online review platform headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, founded in 2007 by Peter Holten Mühlmann. Consumers can publicly review any business, while businesses collect and respond to feedback using free or paid subscription tools. The company listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2021 under the ticker symbol TRST.Open the full entry, Glassdoor, Indeed and other platforms. The company says its work combines technical SEO, legal and policy research, professional content development and digital strategy.[4][4][4][4][1]
Each engagement follows four phases: audit, remove, suppress and monitor. In the removal phase the company files policy-based takedown requests directly with platforms and works through legitimate legal channels where applicable; content that cannot be removed is pushed down by building and strengthening positive profiles, articles and authority pages. For specific removal projects it uses a “pay-for-results” model, charging only after the content has been taken down or de-indexed from search engines.[5][5][5][6]
