Tony Robbins is an American author, speaker, entrepreneur and personal-development coach born on February 29, 1960. He founded Robbins Research International and the Tony Robbins Foundation. Known for large seminars and books including Unlimited Power, Awaken the Giant Within and MONEY: Master the Game, he is also involved in investing, health services and philanthropy.

Early Life: Family Experiences and Mentors
He recalled financial hardship in childhood and said a stranger’s Thanksgiving gift of food influenced his later emphasis on giving. At seventeen, he heard Jim Rohn speak and came to regard him as an important mentor in personal development. In his twenties, he also learned modeling approaches associated with neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) from John Grinder.[2][3]

May 1995FTC Franchise Settlement Agreement
The Federal Trade Commission alleged that he and Robbins Research International misrepresented seminar-franchise earnings and failed to supply required disclosures. They agreed to pay $221,260 in redress and repurchase certain unused materials. The FTC said the proposed consent decree required court approval and that settlement did not constitute an admission of a legal violation.[7]

After his marriage to Becky Jenkins ended in 2001, he married Sage Humphrey that October.[1]
