Key facts
September 2022–April 2023Commentary on FOX Business
From September 2022 to April 2023, Adam Kobeissi appeared several times on FOX Business in conversation with host Charles Payne, on topics including that the Fed must remain aggressive to minimize long-term pain (September 20, 2022), that stock market volatility is here to stay (October 24, 2022), that a recession is the quickest way to lower inflation (January 10, 2023), that a full backstop was needed to restore confidence in regional banks (March 21, 2023), and whether the era of small banks was over (April 17, 2023).[1][1][1][1][1]
February 28, 2023Commenting on Tesla’s First Investor Day
Ahead of Tesla’s first annual investor day on March 1, 2023, Adam Kobeissi said the event would show the market that Tesla remained Elon Musk’s top priority, as markets had grown concerned that Musk was spreading himself too thin and Tesla’s stock had fallen nearly 80% from its 2021 high; he also said that if Tesla announced a cheaper car at around $25,000, the markets would view it as highly favorable.[2][2][2][2][2][2]
March 2023Commercial Real Estate Debt Analysis Draws a Reply From Elon Musk
In March 2023, The Kobeissi Letter posted a thread on Twitter saying that more than $2.5 trillion in commercial real estate debt would mature over the next five years, far more than in any other five-year period in history, while rates had more than doubled, so refinancing would be incredibly expensive and could lead to the next major crisis; the thread also said that 70% of commercial real estate loans were held by small banks. Elon Musk replied that this was “by far the most serious looming issue. Mortgages too.”[3][3][3][3][3][3][3]
