In Founder Secrets, he recalled leaving doctoral research in computer vision and machine learning at Georgia Tech in 2017 to pursue a virtual-reality startup.[6]

Techstars Chicago

Immersed joined Techstars Chicago and participated in its demonstration events. Managing director Logan LaHive’s recap identified Bijoy as founder and CEO and described the team’s virtual collaborative workspace.[7]

Early Co-founder’s Departure

Bijoy later wrote that his friend Ben Chu had initially co-founded the business with him. Chu stepped away when the Chicago accelerator required relocation that conflicted with family responsibilities; Bijoy said they remained friends.[8]

Growing Remote-work Demand

In his account, demand for remote work during the pandemic accelerated Immersed’s growth after roughly three years of development. Its software lets users work with computer screens and collaborate with colleagues in virtual spaces.[6][5]

Forbes Recognition

He was named to Forbes’ 2021 30 Under 30 list in Consumer Technology. Georgia Tech subsequently featured him and Immersed’s virtual-office business in an alumni report.[4]

Visor Demonstration Problems

Immersed held a demonstration event in Austin, but hands-on sessions did not proceed as planned. The company attributed the cancellation to firmware problems affecting six-degree-of-freedom tracking, apologized and released follow-up demonstration videos.[13][14]

Shipping-delay Update

The company said hardware was largely complete but that quality control and the user experience still required work, leading to further adjustments to shipping plans.[15]

Second Shipping Update

The company described small-batch testing and refinements to straps and buttons. Its initial promise of Founder’s Edition deliveries within another month or two was later struck through and replaced with a statement that fulfillment work continued.[16]

Renewed Public-funding Preparations

The company’s filing records a September application for a Regulation A offering of up to $25 million. Its October preliminary circular still described the offering as unqualified. An offering application is distinct from completing a stock-exchange listing.[17]

Shipping Timeline Still Pending

Road to VR reported that the company again told preorder customers it was finalizing shipping timelines and would provide a production update in August. The report also reviewed earlier delays and revised promises; it did not establish completed mass delivery to customers.[18]

Business and Products

Immersed provides virtual-reality workplace software and develops the dedicated Visor headset. At verification, the Visor website still offered preorders. Its software business and hardware preorder and fulfillment status represent separate activities.[5][19]
