Key facts

Establishment

Amanda Staveley founded PCP Capital Partners in 2005. The firm described its focus as international private equity across sectors and markets, with bespoke financial solutions for private and institutional investors.[1]

Manchester City Transaction

PCP took part in Sheikh Mansour’s acquisition of Manchester City. Its 2021 joint announcement and Ctrl Alt’s 2026 profile identify the deal as part of PCP’s football transaction history; participation in arranging the acquisition does not establish lasting controlling ownership by PCP.[1][2]

Barclays Capital Raising

Barclays Litigation Judgment

The High Court ruled on PCP’s claim, brought in 2016. It found fraudulent misrepresentations by Barclays about investment terms, but concluded that PCP had no real chance of obtaining the financing required for its remuneration arrangement. PCP’s claim therefore failed and it received none of the damages sought.[3]

Newcastle United Acquisition

An investment group led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, alongside PCP and the Reuben family’s RB Sports & Media, completed the acquisition of 100% of Newcastle United’s companies after Premier League approval. Staveley joined the board, Yasir Al-Rumayyan became non-executive chairman and Jamie Reuben represented RB Sports & Media as a director.[4][1]

Newcastle United Exit Agreement

Newcastle announced that PIF and RB Sports & Media would acquire PCP’s shareholding and Staveley would leave all club roles, with completion expected that month. The announced resulting stakes were approximately 85% and 15%; the club’s subsequent current ownership page lists only PIF and RB Sports & Media.[5][6]

West Ham Proposal Outcome

The Gold family’s lawyers, Crowell & Moring, reported that a consortium of PCP and Ashland Forest Capital Partners had initially agreed to buy a 24.9% interest in West Ham’s holding company, WH Holding Limited. Existing shareholders, including Daniel Kretinsky, exercised pre-emption rights and completed the purchase instead of the proposed PCP consortium.[7]

Founder Joins Ctrl Alt Board

Tokenization infrastructure company Ctrl Alt appointed Staveley, identified as PCP’s founder and chief executive, to its board and as a strategic advisor. The announcement concerns her appointment and does not announce a PCP acquisition of Ctrl Alt or disclose a PCP investment amount.[2]

Legal Entities and Names

The group name should be distinguished from individual UK legal entities. LLP OC311146 was incorporated on January 24, 2005, used the PCP Capital Partners LLP name from February 2005 to June 2023, and is now Apollo Belvedere Services LLP, recorded as in liquidation. A separate PCP Capital Partners Limited, number 06606337, was incorporated in 2008 and dissolved in 2014. Those records do not establish cessation of the entire PCP group.[8][9][2]
