Greenoaks is an American investment firm co-founded by Neil Mehta in 2012 and known for concentrated, long-term investing; it made an early, large bet on the Korean e-commerce company Coupang and has invested in companies including Wiz, Stripe, Databricks, and Anthropic. December 2010Neil Mehta Joins the Coupang Board
Founder Neil Mehta grew up in San Francisco and graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a BSc in Government. He previously invested in private companies at the alternative investment firm Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, and from October 2007 to November 2009 handled special situations investments in India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia at Orient Property Group, a Hong Kong-based investment firm financed by a fund managed by D.E. Shaw & Co. In December 2010, he became a director of the Korean e-commerce company Coupang.[1][2][2][2][2][2]

2015The First Opportunities Fund
On January 30, 2015, Greenoaks filed a Form D notice of exempt offering with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for Greenoaks Capital Opportunities Fund, L.P., a limited partnership fund organized in the Cayman Islands that year, declaring it a venture capital fund with its place of business in San Francisco. The fund’s first sale took place on June 2, 2015, and by January 2016 it had sold interests totaling $286.7 million.[3][3][3][3][3][4][4][4]
2017–2022Opportunities Funds II Through V
Greenoaks subsequently filed Form D notices for Greenoaks Capital Opportunities Fund II (September 2017), Fund III (January 2020), Fund IV (July 2021), and Fund V (July 2022). All four funds were limited partnerships organized in the Cayman Islands, declared as venture capital funds, with a registered address on Pacific Avenue in San Francisco; filings from 2021 onward listed Neil Mehta as managing member of the general partner.[5][5][6][6][7][7][8][8][5][5][7][7]
2017–2018Subscribing to Coupang Preferred Units and Convertible Notes
From December 2017 to May 2018, Coupang sold Class I preferred units at about $4.98 per unit, and entities affiliated with Greenoaks purchased about 10.046 million units for about $50 million. From February to May 2018, Coupang issued $501.5 million of convertible notes in total, of which about $429.7 million went to entities affiliated with Greenoaks; Greenoaks also entered into a letter agreement with Coupang providing it with information and other rights.[2][2][2][2]
March 2021Coupang’s IPO
When Coupang went public in the United States in March 2021, Greenoaks was a holder of 5% or more of its stock: according to the prospectus dated March 10, entities associated with Greenoaks Capital Partners held about 285.7 million shares of Class A common stock, about 18.5% of the Class A common stock and 16.6% of the combined Class A and Class B common stock after the offering, with about 4.3% of the voting power, including shares issued on conversion of the convertible notes at the IPO. Mehta led Greenoaks’ early investment in Coupang and remained on its board through the IPO; Coupang was valued at about $60 billion at its IPO and had a market capitalization of about $28 billion as of May 2026.[2][2][2][2][2][2][1][1]
March 2025Joining Flock Safety’s Funding Round
On March 13, 2025, Flock SafetyFlock SafetyFlock Safety is a public safety technology company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, founded in 2017 by Garrett Langley and others. Its main business is automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) cameras and a vehicle data network that law enforcement agencies can query across jurisdictions, and it also offers gunshot detection, video, drones, and other products. On May 28, 2026, Anthropic announced it had raised $65 billion in Series H funding at a $965 billion post-money valuation, led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital. Speaking as Founder and Managing Partner of Greenoaks, Mehta said that Anthropic’s world-class researchers and engineers operate with exceptional clarity of purpose because they believe this is the most important work of their lives, that it is rare for a company’s culture, mission, and commercial momentum to reinforce each other so completely, and that Greenoaks was honored to deepen the partnership.[12][12][12][12]

Greenoaks describes itself as a concentrated, long-term partner to extraordinary founders building generational businesses. Besides Coupang, it led Wiz’s Series C and Series D rounds and participated in every one of Wiz’s growth rounds before its $32 billion acquisition by Google; as of May 2026, its investments also included Anthropic, Databricks, Stripe, Canva, and Revolut.[13][1][1]
