The UK Supreme Court dismissed the IWGB appeal, holding that the riders concerned lacked an employment relationship for Article 11 ECHR purposes. It emphasized genuine substitution rights, freedom to accept work and the ability to serve competitors. The case concerned union recognition for a particular group of London riders.[6]

DoorDash’s subsequent acquisition announcement reported Deliveroo’s 2024 gross transaction value at about £7.1 billion, revenue at about £2.0 billion and adjusted EBITDA at about £140 million. Transaction value and adjusted EBITDA are distinct from revenue and statutory net profit.[7]
