Aleric Heck is a video-marketing entrepreneur, founder and CEO of AdOutreach, and author of Video Authority. He began with app-review channel AppFind before developing YouTubeYouTubeYouTube is Google’s video-sharing and creator platform, founded in 2005 by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim and acquired by Google in 2006. Early Life: Massachusetts and Filmmaking

Heck was born and raised in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. He made home videos as a child and taught himself video editing at eight.⁠[1][2]

Starting AppFind

In July 2009, he started AppFind, producing app reviews and tutorials for iPods, iPhones and iPads, eventually earning income from video advertising and app sponsorships.⁠[1]

School Activities and a Business Association Scholarship

In 2015, he received a $1,000 Chelmsford Business Association scholarship. At Chelmsford High School, he co-led DECA and helped develop the Gift of Chelmsford program. His Eagle Scout project produced public-service material about food allergies.⁠[3]

University Years

He entered the Isenberg School at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in fall 2015 to study marketing, becoming the entrepreneurship club’s marketing director and president. A December 2018 university profile described his early graduation that month.⁠[3][2]

Founding AdOutreach

He founded AdOutreach while at university; Inc. records its founding year as 2016. He says early YouTube advertising work for app developers encouraged him to continue building his business instead of accepting an offer to leave college for Silicon Valley.⁠[4][5]

Working with university entrepreneurship staff, he organized the first ULaunch at UMass in fall 2016, bringing students together to develop and pitch ventures over a weekend.⁠[2]

In 2017, he joined the Berthiaume Center’s inaugural Summer Accelerator to refine AdOutreach, with access to mentors, workspace and business-development support.⁠[6]

Expanding Training and Consulting

He recalls expanding from managing advertising for clients into training them to operate their own campaigns, with consulting support, in 2018.⁠[1]

Innovation Challenge Finalist

On February 28, 2018, AdOutreach, presented by Heck and fellow marketing student Davis McVay, advanced to the university’s Innovation Challenge final. It competed on April 5 but did not receive one of that round’s three seed-funding awards.⁠[7][8]

Developing KeywordSearch

In 2020, he and Gregory Kopyltsov began developing KeywordSearch for YouTube keyword research, subsequently adding video-placement, channel-search and advertising-library features.⁠[9]

AdOutreach ranked 87th on the 2021 Inc. 5000, 60th in 2022 and 1,255th in 2023, and was recognized in the 2022 Power Partner Awards. These honors apply to the company.⁠[4]

In early 2023, KeywordSearch incorporated AI for building Google and YouTube advertising audiences, which the company describes as a major stage in its development.⁠[9]

On February 10, 2026, he announced that Video Authority was available, later promoting its Kindle edition after earlier print editions.
