Key facts

Competing on The Apprentice

In October 2014, the tenth series of the BBC business reality show The Apprentice began, with Bianca Miller among the 20 candidates competing through a series of tasks for the chance to become Alan Sugar’s business partner with a £250,000 investment. She was then 25, ran a personal branding company, and had launched her own business at 23.[1][1][1][1]

Runner-Up in The Apprentice Final

In December 2014, Miller reached the final of The Apprentice and lost to Australian entrepreneur Mark Wright, finishing as runner-up. Her business plan in the final was to launch a range of tights to match different skin tones; she had been criticised on the show for pricing her tights at £20 a pair, and after the series she cut the price to £7.99 to give the brand broader appeal, saying she was in it for the long haul.[2][3][2][2][2]

Launching Bianca Miller London

Shortly after the show, she launched her first company, Bianca Miller London, a diverse hosiery brand that redefined “nude” and enabled more women to embrace their natural skin tone. The brand has made products for women since 2015, and as of October 2026 it sold tights, socks, and a skincare range.[4][5][5][5]

She went on to set up The Be Group, which gives new entrants to the job market and the long-term unemployed access to personal branding and development training to help them find new opportunities; its clients have included HSBC, Google, and King’s College London.[4][4]

The publisher describes both authors as Sunday Times bestselling authors.[9][9][9][9]

After The Apprentice, she returned to television as the expert business advisor on the Channel 4 six-part series Save Well, Spend Better, helping members of the public with their financial dilemmas.[4]

Advice Shared on The Venture Room

“It’s so important to understand the value of consistency: if you’re building a personal brand, it has to be good online and offline.” She advises first working out how your personal brand shows the value you contribute to the audience you want to serve, and then thinking about how you sell as a result: build an online presence that resonates with that audience, and do the work behind the scenes offline to reach out to clients (at 10:53 in the video).[7][7][7]

“Not only do we want to make money, but how do we build that money into long-term wealth?” She argues that beyond earning money, people should think about how to turn it into long-term wealth, create a legacy, and protect it (at 11:30 in the video).[7]

“We get support, we get mentoring, we get people who know what they’re doing to help us on that journey.” She notes that banks are built on safety and, given the probability of a business failing, find it safer to lend for a sofa than for a business; entrepreneurs should first get mentoring and clarify their business plan, then go back to the bank manager with a clearer plan and the best information possible (at 11:42 in the video).[7][7][7][7]
