January 2023Bringing two hotel brands together
The January 19, 2023 announcement brought Virgin Hotels and Virgin Limited Edition under a new parent and included Virgin Residences as a residential-development direction. The collection is a management and development platform, not the name of each individual hotel.[1]
April 2023Initial leadership
At formation, James Bermingham was announced as CEO effective April 1, 2023, following Virgin Limited Edition chief Jon Brown’s departure on March 31. These were the leadership arrangements at launch.[1]

Virgin Hotels focuses on urban lifestyle hospitality, while Virgin Limited Edition covers private islands, chalets, safari camps and boutique retreats. They share a parent while maintaining different property formats and guest experiences.[2]
2026–2028Leadership and Moroccan development
The group’s Marrakech development announcement identifies Joe Margison as CEO and Sazanes Immobilier as the partner. Its 37 suites are planned to open in stages during 2027 and 2028, subject to project progress.[3]
