The company was incorporated in Delaware in December 2013 as ScaleData, Inc. and changed its name to Rubrik, Inc. in October 2014. Its co-founders are Bipul Sinha, Arvind Nithrakashyap, Arvind Jain and Soham Mazumdar.⁠[1][2]

From January 2014 Sinha served as CEO and director and Nithrakashyap as CTO and director. Sinha had been a partner at Lightspeed Venture PartnersLightspeed Venture PartnersLightspeed Venture Partners backs companies from seed through late-stage financing. Rubrik began offering products and services in the fiscal year ended January 31, 2016. From July 2016 Sinha also served as chairman of the board.⁠[1][3]

In fiscal 2023 (ended January 31, 2023) Rubrik began offering Rubrik Security Cloud (RSC) as a cloud-native SaaS solution. Since the end of fiscal 2024, RSC has accounted for the majority of total revenue.⁠[1][4]

In August 2023 Rubrik acquired all outstanding stock of Laminar Technologies, Inc., a data security posture management platform; the acquisition-date fair value of the consideration was $104.9 million, of which $90.8 million was paid in cash and the rest in common stock.⁠[4]

On April 24, 2024, Rubrik priced its initial public offering of 23,500,000 shares of Class A common stock at $32.00 per share, for gross proceeds of $752 million, listing on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol RBRK. Each Class A share carries one vote and each Class B share 20 votes; on April 29, 2024, the company filed its restated certificate of incorporation in connection with the closing of the IPO.⁠[1][5]

Before the offering, entities affiliated with Lightspeed held 38,984,426 Class B shares (23.9 percent), entities affiliated with Greylock Partners 19,895,317 shares (12.2 percent), Bipul Sinha 12,342,646 shares (7.6 percent) and Arvind Jain 11,404,364 shares (7.0 percent).⁠[1]

In July 2025 Rubrik acquired all outstanding stock of Predibase, Inc., a developer platform specializing in operationalizing open-source AI models, for consideration with an acquisition-date fair value of $109.1 million, including $14.5 million in cash; the company said the purchase was meant to help accelerate agentic AI adoption from pilot to production.⁠[4]

In the fiscal year ended January 31, 2026, Rubrik’s total revenue was $1.316 billion (fiscal 2025: $886.5 million; fiscal 2024: $627.9 million), including subscription revenue of $1.264 billion, and its net loss was $348.8 million (fiscal 2025: $1.155 billion). Subscription ARR grew 34 percent, from $1.09 billion as of January 31, 2025, to $1.46 billion. As of January 31, 2026, the company had approximately 3,797 full-time employees.⁠[4]

During fiscal 2026 Rubrik built Rubrik Agent Cloud (RAC), an AI operations platform designed to dynamically monitor, control and remediate agentic actions; it became commercially available in February 2026.⁠[4]

Rubrik describes its mission as “to secure and accelerate the world’s AI transformation” and offers what it calls Zero Trust Data Security to help organizations secure data across the cloud and recover from cyberattacks.⁠[4]
