John Gioffre

Gioffre studied political science as an undergraduate at Rice University, where he played on the defensive line of the football team, and then attended law school at South Texas College of Law Houston.⁠[1]

In 2012 Gioffre founded GO Investments, a Houston real estate company that bought distressed properties to rent or sell. It grew into a portfolio of single-family homes and later added some multifamily assets.⁠[1]

Gioffre then began flipping houses and taking on custom projects, and completed his first upscale remodel in 2013.⁠[1]

In 2015 Gioffre became CEO of a real estate development company in Austin, where he learned the City of Austin’s codes and building processes and built relationships with local craftsmen.⁠[1]

In 2017 Gioffre officially started Revent Builds, serving as its owner and head of operations; the company has since completed hundreds of projects. Revent Builds is a luxury custom home builder in Austin whose work includes remodels, additions and custom homes.⁠[1][2][3]

In the video he said the company was on pace for about $30 million in revenue that year, and that his personal income in a single year had been above seven figures but varied with property closings, sometimes leaving him “living on fumes” for eight to 12 months. He said he owned 30 single-family homes rented long term, two full-time Airbnbs, a 24-unit apartment complex and at least 10 other properties in Austin, and that he uses cost segregation studies on income-producing properties to accelerate depreciation. He added that he wears a chain and wraps his trucks so that people ask about them and he can talk about his company.⁠[4]

A Victorian-inspired modern home in South Austin, envisioned by Gioffre and built by Revent Builds, was one of 13 homes open to the public on the Austin Modern Home Tour. The house uses modern building technology for energy efficiency and includes smart home features.⁠[5][6]
