Turning to Large Language Models

According to his personal website, after reading about the Scaling Hypothesis in 2020, he shifted his focus entirely to large language models.[1]

Joining Aleph Alpha

According to his personal website, he joined Aleph Alpha in early 2022 to help build a new distributed training framework from scratch.[1]

Publishing a Paper on Parallelization for Large-Scale Distributed Training

As first author, with collaborators from Aleph Alpha and the Hasso Plattner Institute, he published a paper on parallelization layouts for training large language models, listing his affiliations as Aleph Alpha and the Hasso Plattner Institute; the work was presented as a contributed talk and poster at the WANT workshop at NeurIPS 2023.[2][3]

Going Full-Time on Prime Intellect

According to his personal website, he and Vincent Weisser decided at the end of 2023 to go all in on Prime Intellect to pursue an open and decentralized future for artificial intelligence.[1]

Prime Intellect Announces Seed Funding

The Block reported on April 23, 2024 that Prime Intellect had raised $5.5 million in seed funding co-led by Distributed Global and CoinFund; the report named him as a co-founder of the company who had built large language models for the previous two years.[4]

Releasing INTELLECT-1

On November 29, 2024, Prime Intellect released INTELLECT-1, which it described as the first 10-billion-parameter language model collaboratively trained across the globe; he was one of the authors of the announcement.[5]

The INTELLECT-1 technical report, submitted to arXiv on December 2 of that year, also lists him among its authors.[6]

As of October 2026: San Francisco–Based Co-Founder of Prime Intellect
