In autumn 2021, Robson joined Stephanie Zhan and other Sequoia partners in a Q&A for founders at the virtual TechCrunch Disrupt. He said that in assessing second-time founders, Sequoia separates the success or failure of a business from the quality of the team; that early-stage startups have abundant choices but finite resources and must prioritize thoughtfully; that the investor-founder relationship is built on trust and founders should be transparent with investors; and that building culture means not compromising on people and codifying culture early.[3][3][3][3][3]

Investment Philosophy

Robson focuses on seed and early-stage investing at Sequoia. He has said he most values grit and determination in founders, qualities that do not require big logos or brands on a CV; that one can now found a business from anywhere, creating opportunity across Europe’s many ecosystems; and that strong teams need alignment on what success looks like. He has also said he believes the world’s first trillionaire will come from either climate or crypto, and that crypto offers a unique opportunity to rewrite pillars of the financial system.[1][1][1][1][1]
