Key facts
September 29, 2026Launch and working model
Dots launched with GPT-6 AstraGPT-6GPT-6 is an OpenAI model family introduced in 2026, spanning Astra, Sol, Luna and subsequent 6.1 versions. Its applications include conversation, coding, computer use and professional work, with capabilities and availability varying across models and products.Open the full entry, giving each agent a cloud computer and browser, access to authorized apps and continuity between conversations, with progress visible to users.[1]
The rollout covered eligible Pro and Business Premium users, with administrator-enabled beta access for Enterprise, Edu and Healthcare. The launch also previewed enterprise specialist dots with separate identities and defined responsibilities.[1]
Safety: Research, permissions and action review
Proactive research uses read-only tools to find useful information in permitted sources. The research process cannot directly message others, modify app content or operate a browser; follow-up actions remain subject to authorization and safety rules.[2]
A separate Auto-review system checks certain actions against instructions, Custom Rules and safety requirements. Isolated cloud environments and secure sign-in reduce risks from mistakes and credential exposure, but do not eliminate errors.[2]
November 3, 2026Model expansion
OpenAI updated its announcement to add GPT-6.1 Terra, allowing a dot to use different models for different parts of its work.[2]
Data and memory: Sharing and deletion boundaries
As of November 2026, the help center describes shared memory and recent context with ChatGPT. Turning Memory off stops further sharing without automatically deleting received context; disconnecting a plugin stops new access.[3]
Deleting a dot removes its own context, but not separately stored files, Codex threads or ChatGPT conversations it created. Training use on personal plans follows user settings; business and education workspace content is excluded by default.[3]
