Background: Founders
Artemis was founded by CEO Shachar Hirshberg and CTO Dan Shiebler, who met in New York a few years earlier through a mutual acquaintance. Hirshberg served in the Israeli Intelligence Corps, then built security operations platforms at Demisto and Palo Alto NetworksPalo Alto NetworksPalo Alto Networks is an American cybersecurity company that offers network security, cloud security, security operations, identity security, and artificial intelligence security products, and provides threat intelligence, assessment, and incident response services through Unit 42.Open the full entry, earned an MBA at Harvard Business School and joined AWS to lead GuardDuty, its cloud attack detection product; before starting the company he took part in First Round CapitalFirst Round CapitalVenture capital firm.Open the full entry’s PMF Method program.[1][2][3]
Shiebler worked on behavioral modeling systems at Twitter, later led AI and machine learning at email security company Abnormal AI, and holds a PhD in machine learning from the University of OxfordUniversity of OxfordThe University of Oxford is a university in Oxford, England, where teaching existed in some form by 1096; it describes itself as the oldest university in the English-speaking world and is organised as a federal system of the university and dozens of self-governing colleges.Open the full entry.[4][1]
April 2026Emerging from Stealth with $70 Million
On April 15, 2026 Artemis, then about seven months old, emerged from stealth with a combined $70 million in seed and Series A funding. The $15 million seed round was co-led by First Round Capital and Brightmind; the Series A was led by FelicisFelicisFelicis (whose funds and earlier brand use the name Felicis Ventures) is a venture capital firm based in Menlo Park, California, founded in 2006 by former Google product manager Aydin Senkut; it has invested in companies including Shopify, Canva and Adyen.Open the full entry, with participation from Theory VC, Two Sigma, Lockstep and industry figures including the founders of Demisto and Abnormal AI and Splunk’s former CEO and CTO. The company’s legal name is Artemis Global Technologies Inc.[4][2][5]
Artemis’s platform continuously models each customer’s environment, combining behavioral logs from users, AI agents, machines, cloud workloads and applications with business context to generate detections specific to that environment, launch an autonomous investigation for every security signal and present the results as complete “attack stories.” Through federated querying it analyzes telemetry in the systems where it is generated rather than loading it into Artemis, positioning the product as an alternative to traditional SIEM platforms.[4][2][5]
The company says customers have cut their mean time to detect and respond to important security events by 94%, and that the platform analyzes more than 15,000 TB of data a day. Artemis then had about 30 employees in New York City and planned to grow to about 65 by the end of 2026. Hirshberg said: “We built Artemis as an AI-native defense system from the ground up.”[4][2]
October 2026Orion-1 Model
On October 8, 2026 Artemis released Orion-1, a frontier foundation model for cyber defense, along with Decision-Grade Readiness, a benchmark it built to measure whether a model’s security decisions can be trusted to act on. The company said Orion-1 scored higher than every frontier model it tested on five tasks—threat detection, investigation, attack reconstruction, threat hunting and correlating activity—and was trained without customer data; it also said suspicious and malicious AI-enhanced activity across the environments it defends rose 268% between April and August 2026.[6]
October 2026Listing in Cursor’s Origin App Marketplace
On October 13, 2026 CursorCursorCursor is the trading name of U.S. AI coding software company Anysphere, Inc. and its namesake coding tool. Founded by Michael Truell, Sualeh Asif, Arvid Lunnemark and Aman Sanger, it began as an AI-native development environment forked from VS Code and later shifted toward agent-centered coding. Its November 2025 Series D valued the company at $29.3 billion post-money; on August 14, 2026, SpaceX completed an all-stock acquisition at an implied equity value of $60 billion, making Cursor a wholly owned subsidiary.Open the full entry announced that the app marketplace for its Origin platform integrated more than 20 developer-tool apps, listing Artemis Security among its security apps.[7]
