An App for Election History

He won the 2015 Congressional App Challenge in Georgia’s 7th District with Electoral College History.[1]

High-School Science Research

In 2018, Georgia Public Broadcasting interviewed Karanam, then at South Forsyth High School, about radon-mitigation research combining oil compounds and machine learning. He described difficulties sealing his experimental chamber and improving algorithmic accuracy.[2]

Virtual Reality and History

Stanford’s CESTA profiled his work on the Horton Project in 2019. The team sought to turn the life of nineteenth-century poet George Moses Horton into a VR educational experience, developing storyboards and studying design choices.[3]

Alumni Advisory Board

On June 25, 2020, the Congressional App Challenge named him to its second Alumni Advisory Board, supporting the Challenge Ambassadors program and alumni engagement.[4]

Study and Teaching at Stanford

His public professional profile lists BS and MS degrees in computer science at Stanford, on the AI track, with a minor in history.[5]

Unshackled Ventures’ 2022 fellows profile described him as Stanford XR’s vice president of education, helping create and teach AR/VR courses and leading a student team developing an AR spacesuit interface for NASA SUITS.[6]

Evaluating LLM Deliberation

With Farnaz Jahanbakhsh and Sanmi Koyejo, he co-authored Towards Deliberating Agents, proposing an LLM deliberation-evaluation framework informed by political science. The abstract reports stronger justification than storytelling or active questioning.[7]

Policy Dreamer

Policy Dreamer, which he co-authored, combines policy generation, preference elicitation and simulated feedback. Its abstract describes novel proposals but limitations in covering the diversity of expert-written policies, particularly in controversial or emerging domains.[8]

Apple Research and Recognition

A September 2025 “25 for ’25” honoree profile identified him as an Apple research engineer working on multimodal generative AI and Vision Pro.[1]

Co-founding Trajectory

On May 27, he announced Trajectory with Ronak Malde and Michael Elabd, recalling that they met as Stanford freshmen. He described it as a research lab and product company building a continual-learning platform.[9]

The company describes a platform that turns usage traces, corrections and retries into improvements to models, prompts and harnesses. Its website says updates must pass customer evaluations and approval before deployment.[10]
