Abraham Pierson

Abraham Pierson是北美殖民地时期的牧师、Collegiate School创办人之一及首任rector，任期为1701—1707年。他在Killingworth的住所开展早期教学；该校后来发展为耶鲁大学。Pierson College以其命名。

1668年哈佛毕业

Abraham Pierson是同名牧师Abraham Pierson的儿子，1668年毕业于Harvard College。为区别父子，早期Newark记录称他为Abraham Pierson, Jr.。⁠[1]

1669—1692年：Newark教会任职

1669年7月28日，Newark居民表决邀请年轻的Pierson协助父亲牧会，最初安排为一年；1672年3月，他正式成为共同牧师。父亲于1678年去世后，他独自负责该教会，直至1692年2月或3月离任。⁠[1]

1692—1694年：迁往康涅狄格

离开Newark后，Pierson返回康涅狄格，在Greenwich的第一教会讲道约两年；1694年底成为Killingworth教会的第二任牧师。该地后来成为Clinton。他在当地继续牧会，同时参与筹办高等教育。⁠[1][2]

1701年参与创校并担任首任rector

1707年去世与校务交接

Pierson于1707年3月5日去世，结束其首任rector任期。Samuel Andrew随后接任，学校也在Pierson去世后转至Saybrook开展教学。⁠[2][4][5]

1874年校园纪念雕像

1874年，雕塑家Launt Thompson创作的Pierson纪念雕像在耶鲁校园落成，由Charles Morgan捐赠；Clinton的Morgan School也设置了复制像。⁠[2]

1933年以其命名的住宿学院

耶鲁的Pierson College于1933年建成，以Abraham Pierson命名，纪念他作为Collegiate School创办人的角色。⁠[6]
